How it works

Start by selecting a cell that contains some or all of the formatting attributes that you want to select. The Select by Format dialog box (shown below) displays the formatting of the active cell as a series of check boxes. Place a checkmark next to the attribute(s) that you want to include in the search and click OK. The result? All matching cells on the worksheet are selected. Once selected, you can do what you like with the cells: format them, delete them, assign a name, create a named style, etc..

In the dialog box shown above, the user has selected two attributes. The add-in will search for all cells that (a) match the active cell's numeric format (which happens to be percent, with one decimal place) and (b) match the active cell's interior color and shading. You can select any number of the checkboxes.

If your worksheet has many cells, you can select the Show progress bar check box. Doing so will display a handy progress indicator -- but using the progress bar will also slow down the selection just a bit.
