Description:
The Name Lister add-in displays a list of all names in a workbook. In addition, you can
display names that fall into any of the following categories:
- Workbook level names
- Sheet level names -- names that are defined only for a specific worksheet
- Hidden names -- these names are normally not accessible
- Linked name -- names that refer to other workbooks
- Bad names -- invalid names that should be deleted. These names are often the cause of
"phantom links."
The utility also lets you:
- Delete names
- Activate name ranges interactively without closing the Name Lister dialog box.
NOTE: This add-in requires Excel 97, and it will not work with Excel 5 or
Excel 95. This add-in is fully functional, not crippled, not password-protected, and has
no nag messages. It is absolutely free, with no strings attached.
Installation:
- Download the J-Walk Name Lister add-in (it's a self-extracting
EXE file).
- Extract the XLA add-in file by double-clicking the NAMELIST.EXE file.
- Start Excel and select the Tools - Add-Ins command. Don't even try using it with
previous versions of Excel.
- In the Add-Ins dialog box, click the Browse button and locate namelist.xla (the file you
extracted in Step #2).
- Click OK
- Select the cell that you want to format.
- Select Tools - J-Walk Name Lister from the menu.
